Celebrate Your Company’s Success With These 7 Creative Holiday Team Building Activities

The holiday season is coming upon us. This means that you need to take the time to plan on how you and your colleagues should celebrate it.

After the hard work everyone put into their job, there should be a time where you celebrate your successes, both big and small.

Of course, before you can celebrate and party hard, you should first start things off by having a team-building session. Team building helps rejuvenate the connections between one another in the workplace. Plus it’s generally a fun thing to do with your coworkers.

Before the holiday season starts, it’s a good idea to refresh the connection between one another with a holiday team building activity. Not only will they be good for developing your team, but it’s also timely.

Check out some of these holiday team building activities that you can try out below:

Holiday Whodunnit

Everybody loves a good mystery. Why do you think a lot of crime history documentaries are still popular nowadays?

With that trend in mind, there is nothing that will help fire up a holiday-themed occasion more than a murder mystery that has to be solved.

To be able to create a holiday “who done it” type of activity, you need to plan quite a bit. That’s because you can go crazy with the decorations and set up a crime scene.

Don’t forget to leave who’s behind the “crime”. Better yet, one of the perpetrators should be one of the people they know. That way, it can be polarizing for everyone to figure it out.

Use What You Got

Another team-building activity that you can modify to make it more fitting for the holidays is a game where you instruct each group to create a specific object.

However, the rule is that they should make this particular object based on a set of items that either you give them or that are only available to them right at the moment.

This restriction helps create an atmosphere that allows your employees to be more creative and to think of solutions that are outside of the box. You’ll be able to see just how this activity will affect how your employees work in the future.

Human Knot

If you set the required outfit for the team building activity as red and green, then this next activity will be all the more enjoyable.

This next activity is called the human knot. With participants between a number of eight to 20 people, instruct them to face everyone in a circle, shoulder together. They should put their right hand in front of them and then grabbed a random person’s hand from anywhere in the circle. They do the same with their left hand.

The task is that they should be able to detangle themselves from one another.

Scavenger Hunt

Another team-building activity that we all know and love that can be modified to fit the holiday is a good ole’ fashioned scavenger hunt.

A scavenger hunt is just a list of tasks that can range from silly to challenging. You can set the theme as if the groups are Santa’s little helpers out to save Christmas. Make the tasks as exciting and as relevant to the holiday season as much as possible so that it’s extra fun for them to do.

It can be challenging, so make sure that you have enough time in your itinerary to hold a scavenger hunt.

Three Truths and a Lie

Another exciting game that you can do no matter what season is “Three Truths and a Lie.”

You will need to give each player four sheets of paper and a pen to write three things about them that is true, and one that is a lie. Instruct them to create a safe-for-work truth and lie to keep everything professional.

Once they finish writing down their truths and lies, you should make each member stand up within the group. Announce what their truths and lie are, and then the rest of the group should guess which one is the lie.

The Mine Field

This is another team building activity that is not necessarily holiday-themed. With the right decorations, it can feel like a holiday team building activity.

What you will need would be several blindfold and small or various sizes of items that you can place around the area.

The task would be one person will be blindfolded, and another will not, and they have to guide their blindfolded member across a set of obstacles without touching anything. The catch is the blindfolded person cannot talk.

This activity is called The Mine Field, and it helps teams create better communication between one another.

Escape the Room

An interesting combination would be holiday and horror, which is something that you can try to accomplish in a holiday-themed escape room. Nothing gets the blood flowing more than a little sense of exhilaration and fear.

This particular team building activity can be quite fun. Do note that it requires a lot of prep work beforehand. However, if you do it right, then it can be a great activity that is fun for everyone involved.

The great thing about an escape room is that are a lot of challenges and tricks that the teams must overcome. You can rank each team based on how fast they were able to overcome or finish an escape room.

Conclusion

It’s not only important for an organization to work hard and provide quality results. It’s also important for them to invest in relevant team building activities that develop the qualities of each member of the team.

Depending on the time of the year when the team building is held, the activities should be relevant to the organization and its members.

Since the holiday season is usually a sign that a year is about to end, this is the best time for an organization to hold a team-building activity that not only reconnects or revitalizes the connections between each team but also celebrates the company’s success.

On your next company outing, consider doing some of these creative holiday team building activities listed above. You surely can’t go wrong with any of them.
