Essential Things You Need in a Camping Trip

Camping is a great way to spend some time out of the office, whether it’s in the woods, mountains or beach. It’s a great way to de-stress from the hustle and bustle of work and connect with nature.

We’ve compiled the essential things campers need when planning a camping trip. Now see first what you’re missing before you head out there in the great outdoors:

An Easy-to-Build Tent

Choose a tent that’s easy to set-up. For instance, it only takes seconds for a pop-up tent to set-up. The benefit of having this tent is simple. You unpack it, and it pops open. You can even have your tent pitched just minutes after arriving at the campsite.

Ideally, you need to get a tent with extra storage capacity, especially if you have a lot of gear with you. Don’t always go for the cheapest model. Usually, single-skin are the least expensive yet the most basic. More premium models, on the other hand, have additional layers, giving more insulation and is more durable.

Comfortable Sleeping Bag

A sleeping bag is probably the most obvious item to bring, but just in case you forgot, you need one with you before you head off pitching your tent. An excellent sleeping bag will reward you with a good night’s sleep, by keeping you warm. However, there are still a lot of things to consider when choosing the right sleeping bag for you.

Here are three deciding factors:

Temperature: If you quickly get cold, a general rule of thumb is to search for a rating that’s at least 10-20⁰F lower than the actual temperature outside.

Shape: The shape of the sleeping bag that you choose can also affect your comfort. Don’t pick a model that’s too tight that it won’t give you a good night’s sleep or too big that fails to keep you warm. Instead, find one that has a shape that fits you well, and makes you warm at the same time.

Length: Pick a model that has only a small amount longer than your actual height. If you choose one that’s too roomy for you, your body heat will get lost with the extra space.

Foldable Chair

Let’s face it, camping can be exhausting, and you need a great chair to unload your tired body after a long day of activities. Having a trusty and comfortable foldable chair will be an excellent addition. That way, you won’t be stuck sitting on a stump or a big rock throughout the entire duration of your trip.

First Aid Kit

Accidents are unavoidable, and burns, bumps, and scratches can happen. That’s why bringing along a first aid kit is one of the most basic camping essentials that you need to bring with you. So don’t leave home without it, and take it in all your excursions as well.

Ropes

Ropes have many uses in a campsite, and extremely useful as you can tie in different knots. You can use it to create a shelter, build a clothesline to hang your wet garments, or even tow people on tight situations (such as during a difficult hike or swim.)

Tarps

Tarps come in handy when you use it to protect the base of your tent or to provide extra shelter. Not only that, but they’re also easy to fold, so only takes a small amount of space in your backpack.

Bring a Lamp, Flashlight, Headlamp

You might find your self stumbling to go to the bathroom at night, or just sneaking in to get a midnight snack. So always include a lamp, flashlight or a headlamp in your camping essentials.

Camping at times can get rough, and the next thing you know, you can’t see anything. So better equip yourself with these tools so that you stay active in your campsite even if it’s dark already.

Essential Toiletries

Bring essential toiletries like your toothbrush, some toothpaste, a bar of soap, facial and genital wash and a small bottle of shampoo (you can also bring a small bottle of conditioner.)

Dental floss is also great as long as it doesn’t take too much space in your bag. Leave those bath gels, mousse, shaving gear, and bubble baths at home because chances are, you won’t need it. When going camping, you need to cut down your bathroom needs.

Alternate Weather Wear

By taking extra clothes and alternate weather wear with you, you don’t have to worry so much about sudden weather changes. You can quickly change your wet clothes with dry ones, and layer up if the temperature rises.

To Wrap It Up

Keep in mind that when planning an outdoor adventure such as camping, preparation is essential. Also having the necessary supplies and equipment at hand makes a significant difference by making the entire experience memorable.
